West End Resident Strikes Fortune with $1.1 Million Cash 5 Victory

A resident of Moore County, West End, North Carolina, has hit a life-changing jackpot of $1.1 million in the recent Cash 5 lottery draw. This significant win comes just in time for the winner to fulfill a longstanding promise to his wife—a dream home of their own.

Terrell Bethea, the fortunate winner, vividly remembers assuring his wife years ago that she would one day live in a house she truly deserved. The North Carolina Education Lottery shared this heartwarming story in a recent announcement.

With the substantial prize money, Bethea is excited to finally deliver on his promise. “Now I can get my family the house they deserve,” he said, reflecting on the win’s impact.

The news brought tears of joy to his wife, who was overwhelmed by the announcement. “She fell to her knees and broke down crying,” Bethea recalled, describing the emotional moment.

The win was serendipitously timed, occurring just two days before Bethea’s 36th birthday. “This happened two days before my birthday,” he chuckled. “Isn’t that wild?”

Bethea purchased his lucky ticket for only $1 at the Friendly Mart located on N.C. 24/27 in Robbins.

He claimed his prize on Tuesday at the lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After the necessary deductions for federal and state taxes, he walked away with $811,106. “This means more to me than you can possibly imagine,” said Bethea, grateful for his newfound fortune.
