St. Louis Shopper Stunned by $50K Powerball Win at Schnucks

A St. Louis man got the shock of his life when he discovered his Powerball ticket was worth $50,000, the Missouri Lottery (MoLottery) announced.

The lucky ticket, purchased at Schnucks Sierra Vista for the February 15 drawing, matched four out of five white-ball numbers plus the Powerball number. Initially, the winner thought he had only matched four numbers for a $100 prize.

“When I scanned the ticket, the screen showed something about the lottery,” he said. Unsure what it meant, he turned to a store clerk for help.

“The clerk said, ‘I can’t cash this,’” the man recalled. “I was shocked when he told me I had matched the Powerball and won $50,000!”

MoLottery revealed that in the 2024 fiscal year, players in St. Louis County won over $200.8 million in prizes. Retailers pocketed at least $19.4 million in commissions and bonuses, while local education programs benefited from $161.2 million in lottery earnings.

Powerball drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 9:59 p.m. Will the next jackpot winner be you?
