A quick stop for groceries turned into a life-changing moment for one Rock Hill woman, who walked away with a $248,000 jackpot from the Palmetto Cash 5 lottery.
The lucky ticket was purchased at Food Lion #1590 on Cross Point Drive, where she decided to play her usual numbers before heading home.
“All five numbers matched. I just stood there thinking, ‘Is this real?’” she shared.
A regular player, she credits persistence for the big win. “It feels like I’ve been playing since I was born,” she said.
With her prize, she plans to clear her debts and support a few close friends. “I’m staying grounded — this won’t go to my head,” she added.
The store that sold the ticket received a $2,480 commission for the sale.
The odds of winning the Palmetto Cash 5 jackpot? A steep 1 in 850,668, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.
