Kalamazoo lottery club wins $1 million on Mega Millions ticket

A two-member lottery club from Kalamazoo, Michigan has turned a hopeful wish into reality by winning $1 million on a Mega Millions ticket. For one of the club members, seeing those massive Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots displayed on billboards always sparked the thought, “I’d be happy with just $1 million.”

On August 31, that wishful thinking paid off. Feeling lucky, the club member stopped by the Y & K Party Store at 5658 South Division Ave. in Kentwood and bought a Mega Millions ticket, according to the Michigan Lottery.

Returning to the store a few days later, they noticed a new banner announcing that a $1 million Mega Millions prize had been sold there. Initially, they felt disappointed, assuming the big win belonged to someone else.

Unbeknownst to them, they were the lucky winner all along. “A few days later, I decided to check some Lottery tickets I had in my wallet. When I scanned the Mega Millions ticket using my Lottery app, it flashed $1 million with confetti. I couldn’t believe my eyes! I scanned it several more times just to make sure,” the winner shared.

Their ticket matched the white balls drawn on September 3: 12, 41, 43, 52, and 55, securing them the $1 million prize.

The club recently claimed their winnings through their representative, Austin Beaudet, and they plan to invest the prize for the future.
