Jackson Local Snags $150,000 in Powerball with Lucky Store Stop

In an unexpected twist of fate, a Jackson man discovered he had won a whopping $150,000 Powerball prize after scanning his lottery ticket. The fortunate event unfolded when 65-year-old Brian Ellsworth checked his ticket, which bore the winning numbers 11, 38, 41, 62, and 65 with Powerball 15 from the April 3 drawing. Initially winning $50,000, his prize tripled to $150,000 courtesy of the Power Play feature.

Ellsworth recounted his day, noting, “I left work early and decided to grab a few Powerball tickets on my way home.” Days later, upon scanning one of these tickets at the Save Time store on East South Street, he was prompted to claim his prize at the lottery office—a message he had never encountered before.

After confirming his big win with the store clerk, Ellsworth recently visited the Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. With the winnings, he plans to buy a travel trailer, address some home repairs, and save the rest. “It’s been a nerve-wracking week safeguarding the ticket, but now I’m thrilled to be claiming my prize. This win will ease our lives significantly,” he expressed, thinking of the benefits for himself and his wife.

Powerball tickets are available for $2 each across Michigan, with additional features like Power Play and Double Play to enhance winning potential. The Powerball draws occur three times a week—Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m., viewable live online.
