A Georgia resident came tantalizingly close to landing the $371 million Powerball jackpot but still walked away with a significant prize. The lucky player matched four numbers and the red Powerball, securing a $50,000 win during the Saturday, Oct. 12 draw.
While the massive jackpot eluded them by just one number, this win is still a notable achievement. The Georgia Lottery hasn’t yet disclosed where the winning ticket was purchased, but they’ve been contacted for more information.
The winning numbers from that draw were 5, 14, 20, 41, 57, and the red Powerball 6. Players who opted for the Power Play multiplier saw their prizes tripled, with the multiplier set at 3x.
Other big wins from that drawing included a $2 million prize for a player in Connecticut, and a $1 million win in Tennessee for matching five numbers without the Powerball.
Excitement is already building for the next Powerball drawing on Oct. 14, with an estimated jackpot soaring to $388 million.
