A quick grocery stop turned into a life-changing moment for a Gastonia woman, who snagged a $100,000 win from a $3 Powerball ticket.
Elizabeth McAteer picked up a Quick Pick ticket from a Harris Teeter on Robinhood Road. The lucky numbers matched four white balls and the red Powerball during the March 10 drawing.
Initially, McAteer scored $50,000, but thanks to the 2X Power Play multiplier, her prize instantly doubled to $100,000.
She officially claimed her winnings this past Thursday, walking away with $71,757 after taxes were withheld, per the North Carolina Lottery.
Talk about turning spare change into a small fortune!
