Connecticut Player Scores $1 Million as Powerball Jackpot Soars to $1.5 Billion

One lucky Connecticut player walked away with $1 million on Wednesday night, while the Powerball jackpot continues its historic climb, now hitting a staggering $1.5 billion.

Although no one hit the jackpot in the December 13 drawing, several players across the country struck gold. The winning numbers were 25, 33, 53, 62, 66 with a Powerball of 17.

Connecticut’s big winner was one of six players nationwide to match all five white balls, earning a $1 million prize. The other five winners hailed from Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey (three players).

Meanwhile, players in Arizona and Massachusetts boosted their wins to $2 million by opting for the Power Play feature.

The odds of landing the $1 million prize in Powerball are 1 in 11,688,054. For the jackpot? A daunting 1 in 292,201,338.

Despite the long odds, over 38,000 winning tickets were sold in Connecticut alone for Wednesday’s draw.

Powerball tickets cost $2 each, with drawings held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. EST. Fans can catch the action live via the “Watch the Drawing” page on Powerball’s website.

The next draw is set for Saturday night, with a cash option of $686.5 million up for grabs.
