Blue Springs Man’s Coffee Break Turns Into $150,000 Powerball Win

A routine stop for coffee at a Blue Springs convenience store turned life-changing for one lucky Missouri Lottery player, who walked away with a $150,000 Powerball prize.

The winning Powerball ticket was purchased at Happy Hour, 1801 N.W. Route 7, for the October 15 drawing. Initially worth $50,000, the ticket’s value tripled when the player added the Power Play option, which multiplied his prize by three.

“About 80% of the time, I use Quick Pick,” the winner explained. “I started adding Power Play about two years ago. When I saw the numbers, I was drinking coffee—I started shaking so much I dropped my cup and broke it!”

The winning numbers were 10, 13, 28, 34, and 47, with the Powerball number 15. The ticket matched four white balls and the Powerball, securing the $50,000 base win before the multiplier kicked in.

“I went to the Lottery office thinking I’d won $50,000,” the man said. “When they told me it was actually $150,000, I couldn’t believe it!”

So far this fiscal year, Jackson County players have claimed over $96.8 million in Missouri Lottery prizes. Local retailers earned $8.9 million in commissions and bonuses, while more than $31.6 million was directed toward education programs across the county.
