Anonymous Arkansas Player Steps Forward After Historic Powerball Win

An Arkansas lottery player has officially claimed one of the biggest prizes ever seen in U.S. lottery history — the massive $1.8 billion Powerball® jackpot.

The winning ticket was purchased as a Quick Pick for the Dec. 24 drawing at Murphy USA 7879 in Cabot, Arkansas. The store is located at 208 S. Rockwood and sold the ticket that matched all the numbers.

The winning combination was 4, 25, 31, 52, 59, with a Powerball number of 19 and a Power Play® multiplier of 2.

Instead of annual payments, the winner chose the one-time cash option, valued at $834.9 million before taxes. The player has decided to remain anonymous, a choice allowed under Arkansas law.

This jackpot made history, ranking as the second-largest Powerball prize and the second-largest lottery jackpot ever in the U.S. It also followed a rare streak of 47 consecutive drawings without a winner.

Officials at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery said they were pleased the winner took time to seek professional guidance before coming forward.

They also highlighted the broader impact of the run. During the jackpot cycle, Powerball ticket sales in Arkansas reached $15,021,939, while retailers earned $768,267 in commissions statewide.

For selling the winning ticket, Murphy USA 7879 will receive a $50,000 bonus commission. Taxes were withheld at 3.9% at the state level and 24% federally, as required.

Beyond the headline prize, lottery officials emphasized that proceeds from this historic draw will continue supporting college scholarships for Arkansas students, reinforcing the long-term benefits of the win.
