EuroJackpot History
Due to the huge success of EuroMillions, specialists started to develop a new multi-national lottery game in 2005 to compete with it. It took long enough, but they managed to conclude the project and launch one of the most important lottery games nowadays.
- June 2011 – An agreement is signed in Helsinki to launch EuroJackpot. March 2012, Date of the first EuroJackpot draw. Denmark, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, and Slovenia participated. Italy joined them two weeks later.
- June 2012 – Spain joins the group of participating countries.
- August 2012 – Determined that the jackpot would roll over a total of 12 times, followed by an obligatory win. It happened, and the prize rolled down to the next tier.
- February 2013 – A total of six countries joined EuroJackpot: Croatia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden. Also, the rollover limit was removed, and the jackpot was set to roll over to a cap of €90 million.
- October 2014 – The supplementary Euro Numbers increase from 8 to 10. Also, the Czech Republic and Hungary join the lottery game.
- October 2015 – Slovakia joins and elevates the total number of participating countries to 17.
- September 2017 – Poland joins EuroJackpot.
- March 2022 – The rollover cap increases from €90 million to €120 million, and the total of Euro Numbers change from 10 to 12.
- March 2024 – Greece enters the list of participating countries.
